My daughter has just started a new craft classes which is being held by a dear friend & fellow parent, Isabell from 'Kids Create'. Go to Isabell's Website and take a look. Isabell is wonderful with children and has spent all of her professional life dealing with kids, so she is the perfect person to get out there and promote passion with Art's & Craft. There is definitely a need for it in Perth, as there is so little available and I think that she is going to be hugely popular. Isabell is also going to be starting up classes for the 3-5 yr olds and also holiday programs.

It's been a while . . . and for a good reason.
I don't usuallly post about what's going on in my personal life, because it's usually just the humdrum of husband, kids, friends and photography. But this is a special & sad occaison that I thought that I'd might share. Over Christmas, my father-in-law who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer, six weeks before Christmas, became gravelly ill and passed away peacefully two weeks ago. The two weeks between becoming very ill and the funeral has become a blur of spending time at the hospital, night time calls and grieving children. It was a really difficult time for all us. I have to say thank you especially to my dear friends who helped with children, support at the funeral and just being there and also a big thank you to all of my clients who sent me lovely letters of understanding.
Let me talk about Peter for a bit. His story was pretty typical of his generation. He was evacuated during the war in England as he lived in Newcastle which was being bombed regularily. He joined the Merchant Navy instead of being conscripted. He had a distinct mistrust in all things government, he was a socialist at heart and quite anti-any religion. His favorite song was "Always look on the bright side of life", because that's exactly how he looked at life as well. But those things are not what I remember him for. What I remember most about him, was his love of his grandchildren. He treated them like they had been a gift given to him, which he always knew would be short lived (he had a heart condition which he was convinced that he would drop dead with one day). I remember a couple of months ago, visiting my parents-in-law's one afternoon with the kids. When we got there, there was this enormous stuffed shaggy dog in the lounge (when I say enormous - 1 meter wide and about 1.5 meter's high). Peter had got it off his neighbour, convinced that the girls would love it. I thanked him with sarcasm that you could cut with a knife - he looked at me with a wicked grin and then a shout of laughter. I still think of that moment with a huge smile on my face and maybe a tear in my eye. Peter passed away exactly as he should of, very peacefully with his entire family surrounding him and being with him every moment til his last breath.
We're going to miss you Peter - rest in peace.

Location scouting
I've been looking at lots of locations lately, and often take pictures just to get a feel of the place. My husband always tell me that my landscapes are not the greatest, and it's probably because I haven't spent as much time developing my skills as a landscape photographer than as a portrait photographer. One day maybe . . . . Back to location scouting. These photographs were taken at Garvey Park in Western Australia. What appealed to me was the typical good old Aussie trees, massive, knarled and bare - I love them.

Cooking Indian
This post far away from photography and more about cooking. I love watching cooking shows and imagine myself cooking all the time, if I actually have the time. Anyway, I watched Indian Food made easy on Foxtel, and just loved the simplicity of her recipe's - so I went to a local Indian supermarket, and bought some fabulous spices and the spice holder, and started cooking up a storm on Sunday evening. We made a Beef Madras, Avial, Fried Okra (my favorite) and a sweet Benghal Lentil Curry. Note the beer in the picture - always essential when cooking.
Yummy! Now back to work -
